70th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

|
This year St. Mary's celebrates 70 years!
At our last Parent Council Meeting we discussed how we would be able to celebrate the school’s 70th Birthday in its present premises. When it closed its doors on 5 April 1939, the staff and pupils said “Goodbye” to the classrooms in the Clubrooms. On 17 April 1939 lessons began at St Mary’s School in Whitelees Road, with Mr William Melvin as Head Teacher. We have Logbooks dating back to the 1800s, and they are full of very interesting information.
We had a celebratory Mass on the last day of 3rd term to mark the occasion and held a concert on 21st May with classes singing songs from various decades.
